Elmer Wesley Routh, age 81, of 3062 Old Liberty Road, Randleman died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Bethany United Methodist Church, 3650 Bethany Church Road, Franklinville with Rev. Russell Brownworth and Rev. Sam Hinton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Routh was a native of Randolph County, was the owner/operator of Routh Auto Sales, and was formerly employed with Mid-State Motors. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church where he held several offices and was a member of the choir. He was a member and past president of the CIADA Dealer Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lillian Routh, brothers, Garland and Bruce Routh, and sister, Marie Routh Cox. Elmer loved fishing and the beach. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Lovell Routh; sons, David Wesley Routh and his wife Janet E. Routh, Timothy Joel Routh and his wife Janet N. Routh; daughter, Leigh Ann Routh Fowler and her husband Keith Fowler; grandchildren, Tosha Routh Lanier and her husband Scott Lanier, Kesha Routh Hall and her husband Anson Hall, Justin J. Routh and his wife Kristin Routh, April Routh Green and her husband Brian Green, Kalin Fowler and Keleigh Fowler; great grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan, Jillian, and Jayden Lanier, Mia Hall, McKenzie and Kadie Green, and Jackson Routh; brothers, Odell Routh, John Routh, Ralph Routh, and Sammy Routh. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 26, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Memorials may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 3650 Bethany Church Road, Franklinville, NC 27248 or Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009. The family would like to express a special thanks to the doctors and staff of Randolph Hospital for the special care given to Elmer during his illness.
