Sarah "Elizabeth" Hockett, age 87, of 8806 Racine Road in Pleasant Garden died Saturday, March 5, 2011 at her home. Mrs. Hockett was born December 7, 1923 in Ramseur, NC the daughter of Joseph and Ina Grimes Caviness.
Ms. Hockett was a native of Randolph County, member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Climax, she was a housewife and she loved to sew, sewing was her passion. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Hockett, daughter, Betsy Naron, grandson, Jeff Naron and granddaughter, Deigh Hockett.
She is survived by her son: Thomas W. Hockett and wife Betsy of Pleasant Garden; grandchildren: Greg Naron and wife Julie of Greensboro, Joe Naron and wife Kathy of Asheboro, David Hockett and wife Kim of Concord and Leigh Hockett of Greensboro; 8 great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 3:00 PM at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 6103 Appomattox Road in Climax with Rev. David Hockett, Rev. Kaye Fry and Rev. A.C. Brock officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following burial in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that Memorial contributions be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church/Building Fund P.O. Box 56 Climax, NC 27233 OR Hospice and Palliative Care Of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.
