Elizabeth Hancock Cranford

Odell Elizabeth Hancock Cranford, age 99, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living in Candor, NC.

Elizabeth was born in Montgomery County on October 15, 1922, the daughter of the late Sam Hancock and Lizzie Lemons.

Elizabeth worked past the age of 80 at local textile mills including Spring Mills, Capel Mills, and Longworth.  She was a wonderful cook known especially for her fried chicken and her persimmon pudding.  She loved to get out and ride around to see everything.  She was a former member of Long Hill Baptist Church and most recently of Biscoe Christian Church. 

Elizabeth is survived by two daughters: Lettie Auman (Grayson) of Seagrove and Martha Short (Colin) of Pinebluff; eight grandchildren: Donna, Dianne, Debbie, Dan, Paul, Michael, Frank, and Mallory; fourteen great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Cashion Cranford; son: Danny Cranford; daughter: Carol Cranford; and numerous brothers and sisters. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 1:30PM to 2:30PM at Pugh Troy Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Troy, NC  27371.  A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM at Long Hill Baptist Church, 637 Capelsie Road, Candor, NC 27229 with the Rev. Jimmy Shirlen officiating.
