Elgie Dean Kearns

Ms. Elgie Dean Johnson Kearns, age 84, of Troy, NC passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Atrium Health Stanly, Albemarle, NC.  

Ms. Kearns was the daughter of Walter Lee Johnson and Lula Rena Tucker, born December 8, 1938, in Montgomery County, NC.

Elgie worked in the Receiving Department of Gilead Manufacturing for many years.  She loved her family, her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed cooking and baking and loved her music.  

She is survived by her son Craig A. Kearns and Lisa of Troy, NC; grandchildren: Ashley Michelle Kearns of High Point, NC and Tyler Andrew Kearns of Archdale; Chelsea, Brandon, Adam Harris, Esben Sobey.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Leo Kearns; sisters: Mildred Hudson, Coleen Johnson, Doris Lowder; and brothers: Graham Johnson and Colon Johnson.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, at Pugh Troy Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Troy, NC. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM at Little River United Methodist Church Cemetery, 774 NC Highway 731 W., Mt. Gilead, NC 27306, officiated by Tony Sedberry and Faye Baker.
