Elgie Laura Hurley Hurley, age 83, of Asheboro, died Friday, February 1, 2008 at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 3, 2008 at 3:00 pm at Sunset Avenue Church of God with Pastor Boyd Byerly, Rev. Steve Hurley, and Rev. Troy Wilhelm officiating. Burial will be in Flint Hill Church Of God Cemetery in Troy, NC. Mrs. Hurley was a native of Montgomery County and a homemaker. She had a deep love for her church and family and was a charter member and treasurer of Flint Hill Church of God in Troy. Mrs. Hurley was a member of Sunset Avenue Church of God in Asheboro where she was active in the Senior Adult Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reid Calvin and Bertha Brown Hurley and a brother, James Hurley. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Afton Poe Hurley; sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Steve and Cheri Hurley of Albany, GA, , A. C. and Benita Hurley of Franklinville, NC, Rickey and Renee Hurley of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, April Coleman of Denton, NC, Kimberly Russell of Nashville, TN, Cathy H. Varner of Asheboro, NC, Craig Hurley of Asheboro, NC, Stepheni Hurley of Albany, GA, Brandon Hurley of Asheboro, NC Mary Amber Hurley of Franklinville, NC, Robert Hurley of Asheboro, NC; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Jewel H. Luther of Pisgah, NC; brother, Rev. Alva Hurley of Elkton, VA, and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 2, 2008 from 7 to 9 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC, other times at the home of A. C. Hurley, 112 West St., Franklinville, NC. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Sunset Avenue Church of God, 900 Sunset Ave., Asheboro, NC 27203.
