Elaine Holt Morton, age 89, of Asheboro went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, August 27, 2011. The funeral will be Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 4:00 PM at Oakhurst Baptist Church, 2225 South Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with Dr. Richard Crider officiating The family will receive friends following the funeral in the church Fellowship Hall from 5:00-7:00 PM and other times at the home. A private, family burial will be held prior to the service. Elaine was a sweet, gentle soul who loved God, her family and others. Her life reflected the words of Jesus found in Matthew 22: 37-39. She was born in Alamance County to David and Amanda Loy Holt. She has been actively involved at Oakhurst Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, was involved in the WMU and attended the Friendly Bible Class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years: Ray Morton; two brothers: Dewitt and James Holt; and two sisters: Clara Mills and Martha Bouldin. She is survived by: daughter and her husband: Golda and Tommy Harris of Asheboro; daughter and her husband: Carol and Lauren McDowell of Asheboro; son and his wife: Al and Angi Morton of Asheboro, NC; granddaughter and her husband: Tammy and Steve McPherson of Snow Camp, NC; grandson: Dean Harris of Asheboro, NC; granddaughter and her husband: Cam and Reggie Allred of Ramseur, NC; grandson: Shannon McDowell of Chicago, IL; grandson: Chris McDowell of Asheboro, NC; granddaughter: Elizabeth Morton of Asheboro, NC; great grandchildren: Jason and Heath McPherson, Alec, Ashton and Aidan Allred, Jake Harris all of Asheboro, NC.; great great grandchildren: Haley Jo and Hayden McPherson; one sister: Marie Self of Graham, NC and one brother: David Holt of Graham, NC.
