Elaine Burrows Cox, age 83, of Asheboro passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Randolph Hospice House.
Mrs. Cox was born in Randolph County on April 27, 1933 to Virgil and Ethel West Burrows. She was a 1951 graduate of Asheboro High School. Elaine was a member of Bethel Friends Meeting where for many years she enjoyed teaching the children who came through the nursery. She was the owner/operator of Faith Book Nook, taking over from her parents after their declining health. In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Leonard John Cox, sister Melva Grey Williams, and brother Perry Burrows.
She is survived by her son, Rayvon (Doris) Cox of Asheboro; daughters, Lisa (Terry) Waisner of Asheboro, Lorelei (Jarrett) Phillips of Asheboro; grandchildren, Lana (Jeff) Johnson of Asheboro, Matthew (Kimberly) Waisner of Concord, Luke (Ashley) Cox of Asheboro, Mark (Amie) Waisner of Archdale, Trever Phillips of Asheboro; great grandchildren, Emory Johnson of Asheboro, Selah Waisner of Concord, Emmalie Waisner of Archdale, Graham Waisner of Concord, NC; and several nieces and nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 30, 2016 from 12:00-1:45 pm at Bethel Friends Meeting, 2519 Bethel Friends Road, Asheboro and other times at her home. Funeral services will follow on Friday at 2:00 pm at Bethel Friends Meeting with Rev. Ben Hurley officiating. Burial will be in the meeting cemetery.
