Edward Ray Royal

Edward Ray Royal, age 75, passed away at his home April 3, 2016. Ed was a life-long member of Long Hill Baptist Church where he taught the Adult Men's Class for many years. Ed was owner/operator of Ed's Auto Racing & Repairs. In 1992, Ed began building a 1966 Ford pickup to show. In 1997, he finished and had a beautiful red 1966 Ford Show Truck. He won first place – Ed had a God given talent for working on vehicles. He also liked racing cars; he raced many years all over the southeast. He won many races in his Ford Mustang, but one of his most outstanding accomplishments was in 1982 where he set the IHRA world record in the Super Stock Class at Rockingham Dragway. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Maudie Royal; sister, Joann Livingston. He is survived by his wife Judy Brown Royal; stepson, Michael (Crystal) Williamson; stepdaughter, Sherry (Gene) Culler; step-grandsons, Wayne Lewis, Daniel (Brandi) Lewis; step-granddaughter, Lauren (Tyler) Vance, McKenzie Williamson (his special prayer angel); step-great-granddaughters, Nicole Vance and Aubree Lewis; brother-in-law, Sherman Livingston all of Troy. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Long Hill Baptist Church, 637 Capelsie Road, Candor; other times at the home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Mark Forrest and the Rev. Daniel Luther officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
