Edward "Ed" Thomas Baldwin, age 78, of Climax passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Kindred Hospital, Greensboro.
Mr. Baldwin was born in the Bethany community of Franklinville on January 22, 1939 to Clarence and Laura Baldwin. He was a 1957 graduate of Grays Chapel High School. Ed retired after 37 years of service from Hatteras Yacht of High Point. He served as volunteer assistant chief at Climax Fire Station #42. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and raising plants to sell at the Asheboro Farmers Market. Other hobbies included designing and making jewelry, pottery, woodworking and many others. In addition to his parents Ed is preceded in death by his son Gary Thomas Baldwin.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years: Ann Cheek Baldwin of the home; daughter: Suzanne R. Baldwin of Pine Knoll Shores; granddaughter Kaitlyn Johnson and husband Tommy of Climax; beloved great grandson, Cash Alford Johnson of Climax; sister: Wilma Baldwin Thompson of Carthage; nephews, C.W. Thompson and Charles Thompson and wife Laura all of Carthage.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. A celebration of life service will follow at 3:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Pat Dixon officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery, Franklinville.
