Edward Dwight (Buddy) Thomas, age 81, of Substation Rd., Troy died Monday, December 22, 2014 at his home.
Buddy was born August 9, 1933 in Union County, North Carolina, the son of Edward and Fannie Russell Thomas but lived the majority of his life in Troy.
He was a faithful member of First Wesleyan Church of Troy and a member of the Troy Volunteer Fire Department for 20+ years. He worked for many years at Capels, Inc. as a security guard and retiring as a Shipping Supervisor. After leaving Capels he became a greeter at Wal Mart of Biscoe. Buddy was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Carolina Tarheels as well.
Buddy is preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Dinah Hamilton Thomas, his parents and one sister, Nellie Thomas Hunsucker.
He is survived by two daughters: Debbie T Smith and husband, Steve of Chapel Hill, Annette T. Warner and husband, Joe of Troy; one sister: Mary Alice Culbreth of Greenville, NC; four grandchildren: Kerrie Smith, Bryan Smith, Shelli Warner and Austin Warner.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 27, 2014 at First Wesleyan Church of Troy, 1368 NC Hwy 134N, Troy from 9:30 am until service time at 11:00 A.M. The Rev. Brian C. Wardlaw and Rev. Wayne Preusz will officiate at the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Other times, the family will receive friends at Buddy’s home.
