Edna Earle Whitehurst Weeks, age 94, of Asheboro passed away on Friday, November 29, 2019 at Brookdale Senior Living Solutions of Asheboro.
Mrs. Weeks was born in Smithfield, NC on December 13, 1924 to Earl and Netral Rogers Whitehurst. She was retired from Dick Weeks Construction after 25 years of service. Edna was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Asheboro and a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Van Weeks. Edna was an avid reader and enjoyed watching baseball and college basketball until her husbands' death. The most important thing to her was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Stephen V. "Steve" Weeks (Nancy) of Lexington; daughter, Elizabeth "Sue" Flynt (Robert) of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Caroline Weeks Ray (Randall) of Raleigh, Stephen Weeks, Jr. (Crissie) of Kill Devil Hills, Jonathan Weeks (Christa) of Lexington, Chad Flynt (Lynda) of Boone, Erin Flynt Reynolds (Chris) of Charlotte, and Jamie Flynt (Brooke) of Winston-Salem; and 12 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday at 2:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Speering officiating. Burial will be held in Randolph Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Home Care & Hospice, 533 S. Fayetteville St., Asheboro, NC 27203 or the charity of the donor's choice.
