Edna Perdue Cox, age 87, of Asheboro, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.
Mrs. Cox was born in Guilford County on November 2, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Martin Rufus and Mary Kallam Perdue. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Olen Cox, and her twelve brothers and sisters, including Naomi Perdue Cummings and Clyde Ernest Perdue. Mrs. Cox was a cost accountant and parts manager for the Randolph County Schools Transportation Department, before retiring in 1994. She was an honor graduate of Sumner High School. She was a wonderful baker and enjoyed cooking, bird watching and puzzles. Her legendary holiday meals were such a gift to her family and friends. She was an active member of Asheboro Friends Meeting and a past member of Bethel Friends Meeting.
Mrs. Cox is survived by her daughters, Dr. Amy Cox of Spartanburg, SC and Vicki Cox Humphries of Greensboro; grandson, Andrew (Kate) Humphries of Greensboro, granddaughter, Lauren (Jordan) Cox of Greensboro, great grandson, Dublin; son, Greg Cox of Charlotte, granddaughter, Ashley (Barry) Kirby of Charlotte, great grandson, Branner, great granddaughter, Leighton; grandson, Blake (Lindsay) Cox of Asheboro, great granddaughter, Greer; grandson, Brett Cox of Raleigh; and son, Randy Cox of Hickory.
A service of remembrance will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Asheboro Friends Meeting, 230 E. Kivett Street in Asheboro with Rev. David Millikan officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
