Edna Purvis Beane, age 93, of Asheboro died Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.
Mrs. Beane was born in Carthage on March 1, 1921 to Arlie Alfred and Emma Martindale Purvis. Edna was retired from Jockey International after 40 years of service and was a member of Balfour Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Boodie H. Beane, brothers James Purvis, Graham Purvis and sister, Zada Strider. Edna was a loving mother, mother-in-law, granny, and friend. She loved to cook and enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Beane Wagoner and husband Tommy of Asheboro; sons, Lyndon Beane and wife Ann of Randleman, Eddie Beane of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Julie Lanier and husband Barry, Dale Beane and wife Jordan, Jennifer Cole and husband Billy, Suzanne Redding; great grandchildren, Emma, Will, and Adam Cole, Wesley Redding, Jessie Ann Lanier, and Jackson and Gracie Beane.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM at Balfour Baptist Church, 1644 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 1:00 PM at Balfour Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth L. Reaves officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
