Edith Irene Trogdon Covington, age 87, of Asheboro died Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Cross Road Retirement Community.
Ms. Covington was born in Guilford County on April 27, 1928 to William Henry and Ethel Hendrix Trogdon. She was employed in the hotel industry for 15 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her brothers, Howard and Bob Trogdon. She was a volunteer at Randolph Hospital with the Randolph Cancer Center. Edith was an amazing artisan who was skilled in needlework and hand crafts. Her work, ETC Originals, was sold extensively in stores from Tennessee to Florida. For many years, Edith enjoyed the companionship of her beloved cat Ogie.
She is survived by her sons, Steven Craig Covington and wife Kathy of Greenville, NC, Joseph Edward Covington of Davidson, NC; daughter, Doris "Jean" Covington LaCoss of Asheboro, NC; grandsons, Ryan Craig Covington, Walker Lanier Covington, Steven Hunter Covington; great grandson, Austyn Chace Covington; and brother, General Floyd H. Trogdon of Maryland.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. The family will receive friends following the service.
