Edgar Burke Routh, age 79, of Asheboro died Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mr. Routh was born September 9, 1932 in Franklinville to Ernest Clyde and Pearl Burke Routh.
He was a graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College. Mr. Routh was a coach and taught school at Swain and Montgomery County school systems. He was employed with the NC Dept. of Transportation , training students to drive school buses for the Randolph County School system. Mr. Routh loved to go to antique sales and auctions and enjoyed restoring antique furniture. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Thompson Routh and brother, Joe Sam Routh.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Routh Meili and her husband Mark of Cincinnati, OH, Renee Routh Tweedlie and her husband Tom of West Chester, OH; grandchildren, Alan and Julie Meili, Melodie, Emily and Mandy Tweedlie, and sister, Nancy Welborn of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 6, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2011 at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church with Rev. George Roberson and Dr. Don Haynes officiating. Burial will follow at Franklinville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
