Ed Coats

Zoe Edwin Coats, age 88, of Asheboro died Monday, November 25, 2013 at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation. Mr. Coats was born June 20, 1925 in Johnson County to Zoe and Effie Mae Coats. He was retired from Weeks & Andrews Construction Company and formerly ran The Sportsman Club. In addition to his parents, Mr. Coats was preceded in death by sister, Louise Johnson and brother, Rozell Coats. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Josephine McLeod Coats; daughters, Carol Williams and husband Howard of Asheboro, Devon Jarrell and husband Jerry of Asheboro, Patti Pugh and husband Terry of Asheboro; sons, Danny Coats and wife Sharon of Asheboro, Freddy Coats and his dog, Zoey of Franklinville, Joey Coats and wife Kim of Asheboro; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild sister, Dorothy Snipes and husband John of Four Oaks. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and other times at the home of daughter, Patti Pugh, 271 NC Hwy 42 South, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Burns officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
