Earl Burgess

Earl "Buck" Burgess, age 79, of 412 Turner St., Asheboro died Monday, March 8, 2010 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. Burgess was a native of Randolph County, an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the American Legion. He was a member of Parks Crossroads Christian Church and was retired from the US Post Office. Mr. Burgess was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Lessie Burgess and brothers, Paul and Boyd Burgess. He is survived by his wife, Iula Moon Burgess; son, Michael Elliott and his wife Johnnie of Asheboro; grandchildren, Kisha Vanderford and her husband, William of Asheboro, Tasha Smith of Asheboro; great grandchildren, Cody Vanderford, Tarell Smith, Jayden Hussey and Adayah Hussey all of Asheboro; sisters, Maxine B. Ward of Ramseur, Geraldine York of Franklinville, Doris Burgess of Ramseur, Norma Lee Burke and her husband Stout of Bear Creek. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 10, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
