Ealon Johnson Wright, 88, passed away on December 2, 2014 at Givens Estates Health Center located in Asheville, NC. Ealon was born October 3, 1926, in Davidson, NC to the late Charles H. and Ina Funderburk Johnson.
Ealon lived in Durham, Graham, and Swepsonville, NC before moving to Randleman where she graduated from Randleman High School in 1943. After WWII, Ealon married her high school sweetheart, Bill Wright in 1946 in Lexington, NC. They were happily married for 68 years and lived at 160 Small Road in Randleman, NC from 1955 until December, 2011 when she and Bill, Sr. moved to Asheville, NC.
Ealon was happiest when she could have family and friends in for a visit and for them to enjoy one of her wonderful meals and desserts. As a long time homemaker, she thoroughly enjoyed her home life and being outside working in her yard. She took care of books for their mobile home park and was friends with many of the tenants and local neighbors. She was an ardent collector of cookbooks and recipes and in the last several years she became a fan of NASCAR racing following her favorite driver, #24 Jeff Gordon.
Ealon is survived by her loving and devoted husband Bill Wright; her son Bill Wright, Jr. and wife Judy Wright of Asheville, NC her grandson David Wright and his two daughters, Emma and Ellie of Burlington, NC; step-grandsons Jonathan and Jay Coble of Asheville, NC; brother and sister in-law, Jimmy and Hilda Wright of Eden, NC; sisters in-law Viola Wright Davis of Randleman, NC and Larue Johnson Wright of Greensboro, NC; niece Beth Glass of Greensboro, NC; nephews E. J. Johnson, Jr. and Bobby Yow of Asheboro, NC; as well as several other nieces and nephew; and their longtime neighbor and dear friend, Viola Cox of Randleman, NC.
Ealon is preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Johnson, Jr., Everett Johnson; sisters, ethel Johnson Glass, Alice Johnson Helback; niece, Evelyn Johnson Yow, and nephew, Tommy Glass II.
A funeral service will be held at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, 119 W. River Drive, Randleman, at noon, December 5, 2014. A visitation prior to the service will be held from 11:00 - 12:00 at the church. Pastor Carol Hunter will be officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, 4538 US Bus. N, Asheboro, NC.
