Paul Dwayne Farabee, age 69, of Asheboro died Monday, March 10, 2014 at Liberty Lane Hospice in Salisbury.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Sawyersville Wesleyan Church, 157 Sawyersville Rd., Asheboro with Rev. Jeff Garner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Mr. Farabee was born in Lexington, NC and was a 1962 graduate of Farmer High School, where he lettered in baseball. Dwayne served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was sent over to Vietnam with the Prime Beef #10 Civil Engineering Company after being stationed at Edwards Air Force Base. Dwayne served his plumbing apprenticeship with Asheboro Plumbing and Heating under the direction of Charlie Lomax. He continued his plumbing career, along with his loyal companion Bunt, as the owner of Farabee's Plumbing for over 25 years and was a retired plumbing supervisor with Randolph County Schools. Dwayne was a member of Sawyersville Wesleyan Church and was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Greene, stepfather, J.B. Greene, and father Paul Farabee. He played with the Mountaineers Softball Team as catcher with his friend Gilbert Coltrane as pitcher which developed a lifelong friendship. Dwayne was an avid Carolina Tarheels fan, loved NASCAR, and Post 45 Baseball. Dwayne enjoyed the time he spent with his children and grandchildren and was proud of their accomplishments.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jeannie Wessel Farabee; daughters, Bambi F. Butler and her husband Carl of Hollywood, SC, Dawn F. Chiasera and her husband Frank of Davidson, NC; grandchildren, Nicholas, Noah, and Ian Butler, Taylor, Reilly, and Sommer Chiasera; brothers, Lanny Greene and his wife Tammy of Reidsville, NC, Mark Greene and Janice Rivers of Asheboro, NC, Paul Farabee, Jr. and Robert Farabee.
Dwayne always had a story or joke to tell. You knew you were going to be delayed an hour, when he said, "I know you have to go but,".the story he would tell would leave you laughing and smiling.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 14, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro.
