Dwaine Lee Wilkes, age 69 of Asheboro died Saturday, March 1, 2014 at his home. Mr. Wilkes was born August 8, 1944 in Lumberton, NC the son of Leon and Sadie Taylor Wilkes.
Mr. Wilkes was a native of Bladen County and was an Air Force Veteran during the Vietnam War. Dwaine was a Structural Design Engineer employed with Flour/Daniel in Greenville, SC prior to his retirement with 20 years of service. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by an Infant son.
He is survived by daughter, Dawn Wilkes Smith and husband Mark of Asheboro; son, Derrick Lee Wilkes and wife Eden of Miami, FL; sister, Dianne Wilkes of Raleigh; brother, Doyle Wilkes of Castle Hayne; grandchildren: Dallas Smith of Asheboro, Zachary and Quinn Wilkes both of Miami, FL and Bridgette Smith of Asheboro; nieces: Kate Wilkes of Raleigh and Bailey Wilkes of Wilmington; former Wife, Delores Wilkes of Bladenboro; best friend, Harold Sexton of Asheboro; step mother, Betty McClenny of Roseboro; step sister, Mary Power Quinn of Roseboro and step brother, Richard Power of Hickory.
The funeral will be held on Monday, March 3, 2014 at 5:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro with Rev. Tim Pheagin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 7:00 PM.
The burial will take place on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 2:00 PM in Bladen Memorial Gardens in Elizabeth Town.
