Duncan Hampton "Hamp" McBride, age 98, of 1652 Trogdon Hill Rd., Asheboro died Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Central United Methodist Church, 300 South Main Street, Asheboro with Dr. Mark J. Key and Rev. Barry L. Queen officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. McBride was born on November 13, 1912 in Sanford, NC to Raymond and Lillie Mae Crutchfield McBride. Hamp was a U.S. Army veteran and served as a Signal Corp Repairman during WWII. He operated a sawmill and was retired from Champagne Dye Works. Hamp was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He formerly played baseball with Acme-McCrary, was an avid Braves fan, and enjoyed fox hunting. Hamp was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Ruth Beck McBride. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon McBride Way and her husband Steve of Asheboro, NC, Gail McBride Barth and her husband Joe of Addison, TX; grandchildren, Jesse McBride of Asheboro, NC, Jay Barth and his wife Jessica of Greensboro, NC, Matt Barth of Denver, CO; sisters, Lora Mae Grochala and Bellma Allred both of Asheboro, NC; brothers, Thurman McBride and his wife Helena, and Willis McBride and his wife Irene all of Asheboro, NC. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 23, 2011 from noon-1:00 pm at the church. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O.
