Mr. Duke Robbins, age 93, of Asheboro, passed away after a short illness Wednesday, at the home of his niece in Denton. He was born January 14, 1922 to the late Claude and Sadie Robbins. Mr. Robbins was a native of Randolph County and served in the US Army during WWII. Duke retired from the shipping and receiving department of Klaussner Furniture Industries. He was an active member of West Bend United Methodist Church.
Duke was married to his loving wife, Nordia Alene Staley for 70 years, not counting the 4 years he says he chased her. She preceded him in death on December 24, 2013. They had a son, William Duke "Bill" who preceded their deaths in 2007. He is survived by a granddaughter and her husband, Amanda and Richard Robbins of FL; great granddaughter, Makayla White of FL; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 1:00-2:00p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will immediately follow in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Drew McIntyre officiating. A private burial service will be held at a later time in Randolph Memorial Park.
