Dr. Erich Fred Bordne

Dr. Erich Fred Bordne, age 91, of Asheboro died Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Randolph Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Cross Road Retirement Community Activity Room, 1302 Old Cox Road, Asheboro with Gary Mason officiating. Mr. Bordne was a native of Germany and became a U.S. citizen at a young age. Erich was a veteran of WWII and served in the European Theatre. He participated in the Flight of Honor and the D-Day Honor Trip on June 6, 2014 in Winston-Salem. Erich was a retired geography and meteorology professor and was formerly employed with Yale University, Kent State University, and UNC-G. He was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. He is survived by his step son, Robert "Bob" Davis and wife Vicki of Bedford, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cross Road Retirement Community Dream Makers, 1302 Old Cox Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is serving the Bordne family.
