B. Doyle Craven, age 77 passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro, NC. He was the son of Hubert and Eula Craven. He was a graduate of Asheboro High School, served in the Air Force for 4 years during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. After service he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He retired from First National Bank as Vice-President in charge of consumer loans. He was an avid fisherman, camper and an accomplished jazz pianist. After retirement he and his wife, Nan, spent a month in the spring and a month in the fall fishing at Ocracoke Island on the Outer Banks. He also loved to travel and they spent the summer months traveling throughout the United States and all the provinces of Canada. He loved the computer and spent many happy hours communicating with his friends throughout the U.S. He enjoyed working on his farm. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Ethan Alexander Craven. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Virginia "Nan" Craven. His sons Mark Craven of Asheboro, Fred Smith and his wife Susan of Asheboro, Burit Doyle Craven II of Seagrove; his daughter Tina Craven Howard and Kirby Owens of Seagrove. Grandchildren, Brad Smith of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Buranda Craven of the U.S. Air Force, Burit Doyle Craven III of Asheboro, Jenny Smith of Greensboro, Allen Howard of Seagrove, Brett Howard of Seagrove, Taran Owens of Asheboro, Mason Owens of Seagrove; and Great Granddaughter Layla Alexander Grace Craven. The family will receive friends Friday, June 25 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 26 at 1:00 p.m. at the First E & R United Church of Christ, 221 Cliff Road, Asheboro with Rev. Dale Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to The Randolph Cancer Center, 373 N.
