Douglas Quinton Smith, age 70, of 1939 Willow Rd., Asheboro died Saturday, February 6, 2010 at High Point Regional Hospital.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Donald Haynes officiating.
Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of Randolph County and attended Asheboro City Schools. He was retired from Overnite Transportation of Greensboro in 1982 after 20 years of service. He was the owner and founder of S&S Auto, which he started with his son in 1982, of which he was actively employed. Doug was a big fan of NASCAR racing. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Greensboro Lodge, a lifelong member of Woodmen of the World, and a member of the ACCA Car Club of America.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda Strider Smith; son, Todd Smith and his companion Amy Whitley of Asheboro, NC; daughter, Elizabeth Olig and her husband Cam of Minneapolis, MN; grandsons, Derrick Smith, Zachary Smith, and Henry Olig; granddaughters, Rebekah Smith and Zada Olig; and brother, Stanley Smith and his wife Doris of Asheboro, NC.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro.
