Douglas Ray Luther

Douglas Ray Luther, age 71, of Asheboro died Friday, November 10, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

Doug was born on July 31, 1946 the son of Walter and Clara Brewer Luther. He was a native of Randolph County and a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. He was a self- employed carpenter and was owner/operator of Luther Construction. Doug always said his most prestigious job was his part on the rebuilding of the Pisgah Covered Bridge. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed greatly. In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his wife, Allie Faye Owens Luther, son: Douglas Walter Luther, brothers: Alvin Luther and Garry Luther.

He is survived by one daughter: Cheryl Luther Boggs and her friend, Brian Goodman of Asheboro; four grandsons: Christian Boggs, Dakota Boggs, Kelly Boggs, Jr. and Bradley Boggs all of Asheboro; great granddaughter: Layla Boggs of Florida; two sisters: Carol Spencer and husband, Sam of Clemmons and Vivian Ussery of Asheboro; special sister-in-law: Cathy Luther of Asheboro; special nieces and nephews: Roger Luther, Darlene Morris, Steve (Brenda) Spencer, Tracie (Tommy) Cook, Eric (Joanie) Spencer, David Lynn (Wanda) Hawkins, Karen Hawkins, Daniel (Ashley) Luther , Jeremy (Stephanie) Ingold and extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 7811 Pisgah Covered Bridge Rd., Asheboro with Pastor David Lee Little and Pastor Brian Faircloth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
