Douglas Freeman Fowler, age 87, of Troy died Monday, May 21, 2018 at Autumn Care Nursing & Rehabilitation, Biscoe.
Mr. Fowler was born August 8, 1930 at Queens, NY the son of the late Christopher Fowler and the late Margaret Freeman Fowler. He was self -employed as a General Contractor for many years. Douglas was a larger than life father figure to his children. He was a very talented carpenter and builder, a perfectionist, who loved being in his workshop building furniture. He was very mechanically minded. He was also known to be a rugged outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Eva Fowler; daughter: Debbie (Ruben) Rivera of Vero Beach, FL; grandson, Michael (Helen) Wood; granddaughter, Christine (Michael) LaPlant; great grand-children: Shai, Guy, and Ben Wood, and Hailey and Hannah Bolduc; daughter: Robin Holly of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; son, Joseph (Robyn) Kardos of Leland, NC; grandsons: Tyler & Aiden Kardos; granddaughters: Erzsebet & Katalin Kardos.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 12:30-1:45 PM at Troy Wesleyan Church, 842 Ophir Avenue, Troy, NC. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Roger Rhoads officiating.
