Douglas Christian Coombe

Douglas Christian Coombe, age 90, of Asheboro died Monday, May 27, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 2:00 pm at First Assembly of God, 909 Meadowbrook Road, Asheboro with Pastor Kim Snyder and Pastor David Snyder officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 11:00 am at Lakemont Cemetery in Davidsonville, MD. Mr. Coombe was born in Washington, D.C. on October 29, 1922 to John William and Elsie Posey Coombe, who preceded him in death. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was retired, after 39 years of service, as a field engineer with C&P Phone Company. Doug was a member of First Assembly of God in Asheboro. Doug's love for Jesus was his life's testimony to so many. Thus he had blessed hope and believed in the return of the Lord. He was saved in 1955 and became one of the great soul winners for Christ. He encouraged those he came in contact with to read the Bible on a daily basis as a priority in their life. Doug was the author of two books on end-time Bible prophecy. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He always put his family first. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Hoffman Coombe; daughters, Connie Snyder and her husband Pastor Kim Snyder of Asheboro, Deborah Moss and her husband Larry of Palm Coast, FL; sons, Gary Coombe and his wife Kateri of Annapolis, MD, David Coombe and his wife Nurit of Rockville, MD, John P. Coombe and his wife Stacie of Annapolis, MD; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is serving the Coombe family.
