Dorothy Smeed

Dorothy Wilkinson Smeed, age 88, of Asheboro died Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Boyd Byerly officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park. Ms. Smeed was born in Biglerville, PA on August 17, 1923 to Charles and Carrie Rose Wilkinson. She was a member of Sunset Avenue Church of God. Dorothy was a loving and caring mother and grandmother and was of great faith. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, Dale and Gerald Wilkinson and half sister, Shirley Miller. She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Smeed of Asheboro, NC; sons, Kenneth Smeed and his wife Polly of Asheboro, NC, George Smeed of Naples, FL; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; sister, Helen Wilkinson of Jacksonville, FL; half sisters, Pat Ogburn of New Windsor, MD, Evelyn Lucabaugh of Dover, PA, Florence Nieves of Camp Hill, PA. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the donor's favorite charity.
