Dorothy Garner McDowell, age 89, of Asheboro died Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation, Asheboro. Mrs. McDowell was born April 1, 1924 in Randolph County, NC the daughter of Albert Garner and Blanch Trotter Garner. She was a member of Rushwood Park Wesleyan Church and had retired from Acme-McCrary. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband E. Ray McDowell and her son Wesley McDowell. She is survived by two sisters: Helen Garner of New London, and Alberta Threadgill of Asheboro, NC; granddaughters, Katherine McDowell Theodorou and her husband Michael of Palominas, AZ; and Miranda McDowell Rowe and her husband Timothy of New Port, NC; great grandchildren, Kayla Theodorou; Sidney Theodorou; and Davis Theodorou; daughter-in-law, Annice McDowell of Asheboro, and a step brother, Bill Ridge of Asheboro, NC The funeral will be Monday, December 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with Pastor Jon Reece officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Union Community Church Cemetery, Denton.
