Dorothy Gillis Greene

Dorothy Hope Davis Gillis Greene, age 101, peacefully passed surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Universal Health Care of Ramseur. Mrs. Greene was born March 25, 1916 in Randolph County to Harrison and Georgia Davis. She was a 1933 graduate of Fayetteville Street Christian School. Mrs. Greene loved to travel and had visited all 50 states. She was a talented quilter and musician who played the piano and her mother's pump organ. Mrs. Greene was a member of Balfour Baptist Church and a former member of Giles Chapel United Methodist Church. She loved life and was very active in the Lord's work. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Greene was preceded in death by her first husband, Nash Gillis, second husband, Norvin Greene, son, James Lynn Gillis, three sisters and one brother. She is survived by her step-son, Joey Greene and wife Kathy of High Falls and several nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Balfour Baptist Church, 1644 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with Pastor Gary Mason, Preachers Roger Pritchard and Joey Greene officiating. Burial will be in Giles Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
