Dorothy Evelyn Case

Dorothy Evelyn Jex Case, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Born in Cobourg, Ontario, Canada to Mabel and David Jex. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband George, her mother, father and three sisters. She is a member of First United Methodist Church of Asheboro. Mrs. Case was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 172 in Phoenix, New York, holding several offices including District Deputy Grand Matron of NY. She was a life member of Order of the White Shrine in Syracuse, NY. A life member of the Order of Amaranth, Phoenix, NY chapter, holding many offices and also Daughters of the Nile in NY. She was active in Cub Scouts serving as den mother and active in the PTA in Phoenix, NY. Mrs. Case worked with several organizations including Parks and Recreation Commission and the Lions Club in Phoenix, NY. She was a member of the Home Bureau both in Phoenix, NY and Asheboro, NC as well as the Welcome Wagon in Asheboro. She enjoyed many hobbies which included playing bridge, knitting, candle wicking, needle point, smocking ornaments and dresses, and running on her High School track team. She is survived by her son, Richard Case and his wife Margaret of Maui, HI; daughter, Leslie Chamberlain and her husband Patrick of Asheboro. She has four grandchildren, Camille Leon of South Pasadena, CA, Blanche Case of Boulder, CO, Kirk Chamberlain of Rolesville, NC, Denise LaCross and her husband Brad of Jacksonville, FL; one great grandchild, Kyle LaCross of Jacksonville, FL. The family will receive friends Monday, March 9, 2015 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George W. Roberson officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
