Doris Lanier Talley, age 58, of 2695 Hickory Dr., Asheboro died Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Flag Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Billy Jarrett officiating. Burial will follow in the High Pine Wesleyan Church Cemetery.
Doris was born in Randolph County, the daughter of the late James Wayne Lanier and Edith Dunning Lanier. Mrs. Talley was a member of First United Methodist Church in Randleman but attended Flag Springs United Methodist Church and was thankful for the love and support of the church family there. She was a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma (Delta Nu) and various professional organizations. She is a current member and past president of the Pinewood Ladies Golf Association. Doris enjoyed storytelling at various community and school functions. She participated in community theatre through various roles in RSVP-Randolph Summer Vacation Playhouse. She formerly was employed as a 4th-5th grade teacher in Randleman, was a former Media Specialist at Tabernacle Elementary School, Seagrove Elementary School, and Southwestern Randolph Middle School. She retired in 2003 from the Central Office as an Instructional Technology Specialist.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne F. Talley; daughters, Suzanne Hawkins and her husband Allen of Asheboro, NC and Beth Trotter and her husband Tristan of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Stuart Davis and Amelia Hawkins; sisters, Joyce Venable of Asheboro, NC, Janice Kinley and her husband Danny of Lexington, NC; and brother, Jimmy Lanier and his wife Nancy of Asheboro, NC.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 29, 2008 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at her home.
