Doris Jean Strider Barrett

Doris Jean Strider Barrett, age 84, of Asheboro passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Doris Jean was born August 19, 1936 the daughter of William Pinkney "Pink" Strider and Dora Jean Kearns Strider. Doris was a native of Randolph County and a 1954 graduate of Seagrove High School. Doris was a lifetime member of Seagrove United Methodist Church, and retired from Energizer as an inspector. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pink and Dora Strider and a son, Billy Leach, Jr. (Jay). She is survived by her daughter: Gina Leach Garner and husband, Tony of Asheboro; grandchildren: Spencer Garner and wife Leslie, Kayla G. Holcomb and husband, Cameron all of Asheboro; great grandchildren: Caiden, Carli, Jaxlee and Jaelyn Garner, Blakelynn Holcomb and due in March, Braylee Holcomb all of Asheboro. Doris will lie in repose on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 3:00-6:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and the family will receive friends other times at the family home. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Seagrove United Methodist Church, 225 W. Main St., Seagrove with Rev. Ed Carter and Rev. Brian Allmon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The funeral service will be live streamed from the Seagrove United Methodist Church Facebook page for those who cannot attend.
