Doris Burns Hamilton

Doris Burns Hamilton, age 80, formerly of 1322 NC Hwy 109N, Troy, died Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living, Candor. Mrs. Hamilton was born June 13, 1930 in Troy, NC, the daughter of Jim and Velma (Lassiter) Burns. She was a member of First Wesleyan Church and retired office clerk for Burns Floorcovering of Troy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Dermont Thompson and Melvin Hamilton and brother, Joe Burns. She is survived by three sons: J D Thompson of Troy, Charles Thompson and wife, Jenny of Wilmington, Johnny Thompson and wife, Cindy of Troy; one sister: Barbara Lynthacum of Biscoe and one brother: Robert Burns of Troy; one stepson, Bill Hamilton and wife, Sue of Troy; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the home of Johnny and Cindy Thompson, 1356 NC Hwy 109N, Troy. A Memorial Graveside Service will be Wednesday at 11:00 am at Southside Cemetery, S Main St, Troy with Bruce Hamilton officiating.
