Doris Marie Blase

Doris Marie Watson Blase, 98 passed away April 9, 2015 at 2:00 am at Hospice House of Randolph County. Visitation will be held Friday, April 10th from 6pm - 8pm at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro. A private family burial will be held Monday April 13th at 10 am at Resurrection Cemetery in Montoursville Pennsylvania. Mrs. Blase was born November 28, 1916 in Middlesex, NC to the late Mamie Godwin Watson and Quinnie N. Watson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Blase, DDS her sisters Edell Watson Boykin of Kenly, NC, and Erna Lee Watson Jones of Salisbury, NC and brother Erwin Watson of Warrenton, NC. She is survived by her sons Albert J. Blase, Jr, DC of Asheboro, NC and Richard Blase, DC of Montana and her daughter Dee Blase Moss of Myrtle Beach, SC. Other survivors include eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Blase graduated from Glendale - Chapel High School, Kenly, NC and Nursing School at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. She and her husband raised their three children in Williamsport, PA where she was a nurse at Divine Providence Hospital for many years. For two years Mrs. Blase was the Pennsylvania State PTA President. Mrs. Blase was Lycoming County Dental Association Women's Auxiliary President for two years. Mrs. Blase advanced to Pennsylvania Dental Association Women's Auxiliary President from the position of first Vice President, having served two years as chairman of the state dental health education committee. She was a member of Mater Dolorosa Church in Williamsport. When her husband retired, they moved back to her home place in Kenly, NC. In 1987 Mrs. Blase moved to Greensboro, NC. Mrs. Blase was a very active member of Forest Oaks Country Club Niners Association, serving as Chairman in 1993. She was also an active member of Our Lady of Grace Church. In 1998 Mrs. Blase moved to Asheboro, NC and St. Joseph Catholic Church where she taught RCIA classes and English to Hispanic children. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Hospice of Randolph County PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009.
