Donald Sanborn Redding, Jr. ("Buzzy") of Chapel Hill, NC passed away in his sleep from a heart attack on Thursday, November 29, 2012.
Buzzy was born on February 7, 1964. After graduating from Watauga High School, he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated with a degree in Radio, TV, and Motion Pictures. Buzz was a talented musician and loved playing Elton John songs on the piano. After graduation, he ran an audio video business and later served as a Captain at the North Carolina Detective Agency. In recent years Buzz worked in the lawn services business. He was quite knowledgeable about landscaping and handy work and had a knack for working with tools and fixing things. Buzz had a very sweet nature and loved his family and friends deeply. Buzz, his Mom, and his Grandmother, Hazie, shared a deep love of music. He and his Dad enjoyed going to football and basketball games at UNC and went to two final four tournaments together, including Dean Smith's first NCAA Championship.
Buzz is survived by his parents, Donald Sanborn Redding, Sr. of Charlotte and Frances Strickland Redding of Raleigh, and his two sisters, Sally Redding Hanchett of Bloomington, Indiana, and Julie Redding Schotzinger of Raleigh and their families, including four nephews and three nieces.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the Pugh Funeral Home at 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro, NC (336-625-2171), with a graveside service at 2:00 pm at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Asheboro, NC. Memorials may be sent to the charity of choice.
