Donald Carroll Purvis

Donald Carroll Purvis, age 73, of 1565 Cedar Grove Dr., Asheboro died Monday, October 6, 2008 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 4:00 PM at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 7811 Pisgah Covered Bridge Rd., Asheboro with Rev. Garland Hall, Rev. Bo Wansley and Rev. Howard Moffitt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Purvis was a native of Randolph County and served in the North Carolina National Guard from 1955-1960. He was previously employed with Bossong Hosiery, retired from Eveready Battery after 25 years of service, and was currently employed with Wansley Tire. He was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir and past Sunday School teacher. Donald was a member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Jearl Joyce Purvis of the home; daughters, Donna Carol Purvis Miller and her husband Terry of Asheboro, NC; Annette Purvis Wansley and her husband Jimmy of Asheboro, NC; son, Joey Delon Purvis and his wife Karen of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Shane Tysinger, Lisa Sizemore both of Asheboro, NC, Kyle Sizemore of Climax, NC, Taylor Miller, Rev. Bo Wansley, Keisha Wansley Hutto, Heath Carroll Wansley all of Asheboro, Joshua Wansley of Star, NC; Loren Purvis, Andrea Purvis and Rebecca Purvis all of Asheboro, NC; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Inez Beitzel of Asheboro, NC, and Betty Bunting of Asheboro, NC. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at the homes of Donna Miller, 1415 Pepperidge Rd., Asheboro and Annette Wansley, 6406 Scott McDowell Dr., Asheboro.
