Donald Grey Coggins

Donald Grey Coggins, Sr., age 87, died Monday, December 21, 2009 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, NC. Mr. Coggins was born the son of the late James Randall Coggns and Estelle Ingold Coggins; He is preceded in death by a sister, Helen Coggins Holt. He worshipped and was dedicated to Uwharrie United Methodist Church. Mr. Coggins was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner, retired from Southern Appraisal Company and president of Central Lumber and Supply. He was a veteran of World War II Submarine Corp., serving numerous tours of duty. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Futrell Coggins of the home; 2 children: Donald Grey Coggins, Jr. and wife, Karen Coggins of Salisbury, Ellen Coggins Qualls and husband, Rodney Qualls of Troy; grandchildren: Kaitlyn Nicole Coggins, Emily Elizabeth Qualls and Hannah Jane Qualls. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 22nd from 6-8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Troy; other times at the home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 23rd at 2 pm at Uwharrie United Methodist Church, NC Hwy 109N, Troy with Rev. Jack Luther officiating.
