Don Lee Essick, Sr.

Don Lee Essick, Sr. 72 years old of Asheboro, North Carolina passed away peacefully on October 31, 2016. He was born on November 9, 1943 the son of the late Eunice and Ralph Burke Essick. He is survived by 2 sons, Lee Essick and wife Jennifer and Scott J. Essick of Asheboro; and his sister, Annette Ivey and husband William of Asheboro. Mr. Essick graduated from Asheboro High School and Randolph Technical Institute. He owned and operated Asheboro Radiator Service, beginning in 1976, for 38 years. Don enjoyed the competition and camaraderie of restoring muscle cars, game hunting, and trading firearms. Many trophies were awarded to him for exhibitions of his classic car restorations, throughout the states of North and South Carolina. Don's family wish to express their appreciation to the staff at Woodland Hills Center for their excellent care of him during his remaining years. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 1:00 pm at West Bend United Methodist Church, 1080 Albemarle Road, Asheboro, NC. The family will visit with friends following the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, Don's family asks that memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1300 Baxter St., Suite 150, Charlotte, NC 28204.
