Don Dennis Dawson

Don Dennis (Rabbit) Dawson, age 80, of 362 Bowers Lane, Randleman went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, April 22, 2011. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 4:00 PM at New Beginnings Baptist Church, 1409 Southmont St., Asheboro with Rev. Mark Spencer and James Coggins officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Don was a native Virginia and a longtime resident of Randolph County, NC. He attended New Beginnings Baptist Church and was retired from APAC Thomason-Arthur Paving Company after 22 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Homie Dawson of Virginia, brothers Fletcher Dawson of Virginia, Charlie Dawson of Washington, and sisters, Becky Dawson of Virginia and Nettie Dawson of Greensboro, NC. Don had a great love for his family and enjoyed fishing and dipping snuff. He is survived by his companion of 23 years, Mary Poindexter; five children, Brenda Steele and her husband Jimmy of Mt. Gilead, NC, Donald Wayne Dawson and his wife Jean of Sophia, NC, Patsy Riddle of Randleman, NC, Roger Dawson and his wife Becky of Sophia, NC, Penny Spencer and her husband Mark of Randleman, NC; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Junior Dawson and Pete Dawson of both of Alabama, Joe Dawson of Gastonia, NC, Mack Dawson of Gibsonville, NC, and Willard Dawson of Virginia. Pugh Funeral Home in Randleman is in charge of arrangements.
