Dink Hayes

Dennis Robert "Dink" Hayes, age 84, of 1313 Northside Terrace, Asheboro died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the New Salem United Methodist Church, 623 New Salem Rd., Randleman with Rev. Bernie Dougherty and Chaplain Tim Pheagin officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park. Dink was born on April 8, 1925 in the New Salem area of Randolph County, to Charles Wesley and Virginia Wall Hayes. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was the retired owner/operator of Randleman Gulf Company and Randleman BP and was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lillian H. Pugh, brother, C.O. Hayes, Sr., and mother and father-in-law, Wesley Eli and Lona Glascow Ward. Dink loved NASCAR, auction sales, and bluegrass music, but most of all he loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 63years, Ruth Ward Hayes; daughter, Debra Durham and her husband Mike of Randleman, NC; granddaughter, Michele Blakely and her husband Burt of Archdale, NC; grandson, Chris Durham and his wife Lisa of Randleman, NC; great grandsons, Lukas Blakely and Kaleb Durham; sisters, Winnie Hinshaw of Greensboro, NC and Amy Lee of Colorado Springs, CO. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC and other times at his home. Memorials may be made to the New Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 623 New Salem Rd., Randleman, NC.
