Denver Franklin Hayes

Denver Franklin Hayes, age 87, formerly of McKnight St., Asheboro died Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 9:00 am at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Roger Brittingham and Mr. Don Rich officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Mr. Hayes was a native of Randolph County and a US Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of Sophia Christian Church where he served as a deacon for 46 years. Mr. Hayes was owner of D. F. Hayes Grocery and also worked at Klaussner Furniture. He is survived by his wife, Louise Burkhart Hayes; son, David L. Hayes and his wife Susan of Asheboro; daughter, Luann H. Allen and her husband Joe of Asheboro; grandchildren, Jamie Owens and her husband Lonnie of Asheboro, Bobby Allen and his wife Karen of Asheboro, Will Hayes of Asheboro; great grandchildren, Walker Owens, Lacey Allen; sisters, Dorsie H. Walker of Kernersville, Felcie H. Underwood of Asheboro. The family will receive friends Friday, July 30, 2010 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Memorials may be made to Sophia Christian Church, 5747 U.S. 311, Sophia, NC 27350. The family would like to thank the staff of Woodland Hill Care and Rehabilitation and Dr. Francisco Hodges for the care given to Mr. Hayes while there.
