Dennis Michael Cranford, age 68, of Asheboro passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at his home.
Mr. Cranford was born in Davidson County on March 10, 1949 to Aaron and Genevieve Lanier Cranford. Dennis served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Denton. Dennis was retired as General Manager with Klaussner Furniture and was a former Karate Instructor.
Dennis loved his family tremendously, and he made sure that they knew it. He returned home after serving his country and managed to live a successful life with family, coworkers and fellow sportsmen. The experiences that Dennis shared left most with a "Dennis Cranford Story," and its these stories that will make him an unforgettable person. Though Dennis was a man with many traits of masculinity, beneath the rough-and-tumble exterior was a teddy-bear type of guy that was generous beyond measure. Dennis will always be remembered with his stern gaze, warm smile, hard hand-shake, powerful roundhouse, and the warmest of hugs.
He is survived by his wife, Susie Stalker Cranford; daughter, Erin Cranford Neal and husband Jason of Asheboro; sons, Jared Michael Cranford and wife Stephanie of Wilmington and Ross Lewis Cranford and wife Bethany of Wilmington; grandchildren, Adalynn, Parks, Larin, Julia and Emerson; brother, Kenneth Cranford; and Aunt Patsy Wagoner.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm at New Hope United Methodist Church, 7163 New Hope Rd., Denton with Rev. Charles Moses officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dennis' honor to the AMVETS (American Veterans) support.amvets.org
