He is survived by his daughter Peyton Lombardi (Gabriel) of Cary, sister Debbie Bell of Asheboro, brother Clark Bell (Diane) of Asheboro, nieces Blakely and Rebekah Bell and several cousins.
Blake was a natural athlete. He attended Asheboro High School, where he lettered in basketball and football. He was co-captain of the football team his senior year and was recruited collegiately, but injury shortened his athletic career. He graduated in 1971. Blake continued his education at UNC and ECU, but remained a Tarheel for life. After college he worked at Deluxe Check Printing, North Hills Construction, BD Greene Concrete, and Industrial Wood Products where he was a yard foreman.
Blake was a jack-of-all-trades. His hobbies included woodworking and carpentry. "Pop Top Construction" completed many projects. He was an accomplished artist, and enjoyed drawing, painting, sculpting, and photography. He was a voracious reader and master of the TV remote. Blake loved the water and all things connected to it. He grew up water skiing on the Pamlico River and later in life was known to wet a line. Blake was a friend to all animals and adopted many pets.
He never met a stranger and championed the cause of those who were less fortunate. Blake will be remembered for this kindness and generosity to others as well as his quick wit.
