David Leon "Pete" Sykes

David Leon "Pete" Sykes, age 84, of Asheboro passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at his home.

Mr. Sykes was born in Asheboro on September 5, 1935 to Jesse Page and Eula Agnes Yow Sykes. He was the former owner/operator of Sykes Lumber Company. In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Hayes Sykes, sister, Rufine Beane, brother, Tony Sykes, and son-in-law, Richard McKenzie. Pete loved square dancing and was a member of The Randolph Squares and was a caller for over 45 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Cathy McKenzie; son, David Sykes; granddaughter, Kady Browne and husband Taylor; great grandson, Henry Browne; and sister, Garlene Sykes Rich all of Asheboro.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 21, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro.
