David Harold Strider, age 76, of Asheboro passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Randolph Hospice House.
Mr. Strider was born in Asheboro, NC on December 24, 1942 to Lacy and Effie Mae Graves Strider. Harold served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Energizer Battery with over 30 years of service. Harold was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Frye Strider, son, Duane Strider, and sister, Lena Mae Strider Baker. Harold was a hard worker and a great father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed gardening and cutting wood.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Nance and husband Clinton Nance of Asheboro; granddaughters, Magan Kale and husband Sean Kale of Asheboro and Jessica McDonald and husband Sgt. Rodney McDonald of Cameron; great grandchildren, Blake, Ryleigh, MacKenzie, and Easton; brothers, Ray Strider and wife Phyllis Strider of Matthews and Lee Strider and wife Kathy Strider of Goldsboro; and sister, Betty Cross of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro and other times at the home of Elizabeth and Clinton Nance. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 7811 Pisgah Covered Bridge Road in Asheboro. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard and the NC National Guard Honor Guard.
