Dale Street Morgan, age 73, of Asheboro passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at his home after a lengthy struggle with Chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Mr. Morgan was born April 11, 1944, to Street and Mary Louise McLeod Morgan.
Mr. Morgan was a native of Asheboro, NC the eldest of two boys. As a boy, he loved baseball, hunting, and fishing, a passion that he loved for the rest of his life. Dale would leave Asheboro after graduating from Asheboro High School and serve four years in the Mediterranean with US Navy as a helicopter crew chief. After returning to the States, Dale met Connie Jenkins of Kannapolis and they we married in 1968. Always the hard worker, Dale was proud to have worked for Eveready Batteries, over 15 years at the Baptist State Convention & Caraway Conference Center and almost ten years with McKee Diamond Cut Lawn Service of Asheboro. He was a long standing member of Sunset Park Baptist Church of Wilmington and of Asheboro's First Baptist Church where he was heavily involved with youth ministries, Sunday School and the men's groups. For many years he was active with the NC Baptist Men's Disaster Relief. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Mike Morgan. He was passionate about baseball, fishing, gardening, and barbequing in support of the Church, youth and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Connie Morgan; daughter, MaryDale Morgan Worboys and husband Ash of Asheboro; sons, Kevin Morgan and wife Shelley of Landis and Kenneth Morgan and wife Anita of High Point; and grandchildren, Hampton, Easton, Elizabeth, Ella, Kaden, and Ensley.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 4:30 pm at First Baptist Church, 133 North Church Street, Asheboro with Dr. Scotty Carpenter and Rev. Mark Hall officiating and with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. At Dale's request, the family is pleased to share BBQ and greet friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
