Crawford E. E Slagle, Jr.

The Honorable Crawford English Slagle, Jr., age 59, of 623 Bruton Street, Troy died Monday, June 18, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Slagle was born September 23, 1952 in Kentucky, the son of Crawford E. Slagle, Sr. and Dorothy Marie Curtis Slagle. He had been a resident of Troy for the past thirty-three years. Since moving to Troy he was employed as a District 19-B State of North Carolina Magistrate for Montgomery County for the past 19 years and had served as the pastor of the Troy Church of Christ for the past 29 years. He was also a former Troy Police officer and First Chaplain of the Troy Police Department. He had an associate degree in criminal justice from Montgomery Community College. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elizabeth Slagle Fink. He is survived by his wife, Judy P. Slagle of the home; a brother, John Slagle, also of the home; three daughters: Emily Vann and husband, Matthew of Asheboro, Joann Slagle and fiancé, Jay Hilliard of Biscoe, Stacy Garner and husband, Joey of Seagrove; three sons: Randy Sanders, Eugene Sanders and Mark Sanders, all of Troy; grandchildren: Kayla, Leah, Josie, Jonathan, Kyla, Bobbie Lynn, Erin, Brook, Emily, Dereck and Katie; two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 pm - 8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 N Main Street, Troy; other times at the home. The funeral will be Friday at 2 pm at the Troy Church of Christ, NC Hwy 24/27W, Troy with Rev. Curtis Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Southside Cemetery, South Main Street, Troy.
