Elder Clyde Johnson "Jack" Wagoner, age 81, of Liberty died Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Mr. Wagoner was born September 26, 1935 in Allegheny County, NC, the son of Rex Charles and Maxine Sanders Wagoner. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was retired from Laughlin Hosiery Mill in Randleman after 36 years. He served as an elder at South Fork Baptist church in Piney Creek, NC and was a member of Little River Regular Baptist Association. Jack was also an evangelist and founded Highland Baptist Church in Randleman. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 32 years, Pauline Thornton Wagoner, his grandson Dustin Matthew Wheeler, and a great granddaughter, Zoey Elizabeth Gutierrez, and son in law, Bob Burger. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary Nell Evans Wagoner, Daughter, Dianna Burger of Randleman, Sons, Jimmy Wagoner of Randleman, John "Steve" Wagoner and his wife, Yuemei of Asheboro, and Joel Wagoner and his wife, Anita of Sophia, Step Sons, Jimmy Evans and his wife Barbara of Asheboro and Johnny Griffin and his wife Alana of Ramseur, Grandchildren, Michelle Crigger, Jennifer Villarruel, James Wagoner, Jr., Jenna Hudspeth, Jackson Wagoner, Bethany Wagoner, Kara Wagoner; Step Grandchildren, James and Elizabeth Griffin; and 9 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main St., Randleman, NC on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 from 7 -9 pm. The funeral will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2016at 2:00 pm at White Head Union Baptist Church, 5444 Pine Swamp Rd., Sparta, NC with Elder Dan Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Bruce Wayne Osborne VFW Post # 7034. Pugh Funeral Home in Randleman is in charge of arrangements.
